The New 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport

At Route 33 Nissan, we are always excited to introduce the latest vehicles hitting the market. This year we are looking forward to the spring release of the compact crossover, the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. This latest vehicle from Nissan is a crossover that is aimed at those who need room for both cargo and passengers as they navigate crowded city streets. Though this innovative crossover has been available around the world under the Nissan Qashqai badge since 2006, it will be making its debut in the U.S. in 2017. While Nissan has yet to officially release the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport, we thought we would get a head start and tell you what we know.

Despite its obvious relation to the existing 2017 Nissan Rogue, which was Nissan's most popular nameplate in 2016, the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport, which is available in three trims — S, SV, SL — eight standard colors and two custom exterior colors, is 12.1-inches shorter and has a wheelbase that is 2.3-inch smaller. Powering the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport will be a 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine — known as the MR20DE — that produces 141-horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 147 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. This trusted engine features a Direct Injection Gasoline system, Twin Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control on both intake and exhaust, Diamond-Like Carbon coated valve lifters, TCV, and an 11.2:1 compression ratio.

You will have excellent control of your crossover thanks to Nissan's popular XTronic continuously variable transmission that provides smooth and "stepless" ratio changes as well as front-wheel drive, Active Ride Control, Active Engine Braking, and optional All-Wheel Drive system. While it is slightly smaller than the 2017 Nissan Rogue, it actually still quite roomy for a smaller crossover and gives drivers 39.6 inches in front headroom 38.3 in rear headroom, 4.5 inches in the front and second-row leg room and 5.2 inches in hip room. As far as storage space, the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport 61.1 cubic feet of cargo space — with the 2nd-row seat folded — six luggage hooks, and the available Divide-N-Hide Cargo System. It also features the V-motion grille, angular headlamps, and a sport bumper design.

Since Nissan always aims to make your driving experience comfortable, the interior of the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport should be packed with luxury and hi-tech features. Some of the optional interior features include a 7.0-inch color touch-screen display, premium interior accents, heated front seats, and NissanConnect with Navigation, which includes Valet Alert, SiriusXM Traffic, voice command, and even a Google search tool. As with all the Nissan vehicles available at Route 33 Nissan, the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport will be incredibly safe thanks to a host of features such as Lane Departure Warning, Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, and three-point front and rear seatbelts. For even more protection, you can also add Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and High Beam Assist.

While we won't know for sure the exact specs of the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport until it arrives at the dealership, we do know that this special crossover is one of the top 2017 SUVs worth waiting for.
