If you're in the market for a midsize three-row family crossover SUV that's reliable, durable, does everything you need, and won't break the bank, it's probably about time you took a closer look at a new Nissan Pathfinder. The Pathfinder family of Nissan SUVs has been with us now since as long ago as 1986, so let's take a look at what the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder has to offer.

Exterior styling

This certainly isn't one of those angular Japanese SUVs that both luxury and non-luxury manufacturers are so keen on these days, and that's certainly not a criticism of the Nissan by any means. It might not be as futuristic as some of its rivals, but that means it's potentially not as polarizing and it will probably appeal to a very wide audience.

Trim levels

Nissan does seem to get it right when it comes to the number of trim levels it offers these days. There's plenty of choices, of course, but not so much that it can ever be confusing. The Pathfinder has four trim levels available for 2020. The entry-level model is the Pathfinder S, and then we have the SV, SL and Platinum trims. However, there's also a special edition package for the SV and SL trims of the 2020 Pathfinder called the Rock Creek Edition.

Powertrain

It's fair to say that the midsize Nissan SUV emphasizes on comfort rather than outright performance, but this is a sizeable vehicle and that means a decent amount of power is needed, especially when fully loaded with passengers and cargo. To power the Pathfinder, Nissan goes with a 3.5-liter V-6 that develops 284 horsepower and 259 lb.-ft. of torque. This capable and well-trusted powerplant sends that power to the front or all four wheels through the automaker's advanced Xtronic transmission.

Interior

Just like the exterior, the interior of the Pathfinder does the job it was designed to do just right, and without any unnecessary fuss. The front seats are very spacious and comfortable, and those sitting in the second-row also have an impressive 40 inches of legroom. The second-row also reclines, and it slides backward and forwards to allow easier access to the third-row seats. Even with all seats in place, there's 16 cu.-ft. of cargo space in the back of the Nissan, which is as much trunk space of a generously proportioned sedan.

Features and equipment

Even the entry-level S model comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, enough seating capacity for as many as seven people, keyless ignition, cloth upholstery, up to six USB ports, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rearview monitor, tri-zone automatic temperature control, and automatic emergency braking. At the other end of the spectrum, the Pathfinder Platinum comes with standard 20-inch alloys, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, second-row seats that are heated, a dual-pane sunroof, premium audio system and navigations, a surround-view camera system, power-adjustable front seats and steering wheel and plenty more.
